Taking this course has been a really good experience. I learned to be more present in the moments with my daughter and to communicate with more awareness and empathy. I understood the importance of truly listening, not just to the words but also to the emotions behind them. Hearing the other participants in the different activities also confirmed that I’m not alone in this, and that many other parents go through the same situations. It helped me feel supported in this process.
Marcela’s reply
Hi Marcela, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad it helped you connect more with your daughter. Children give their best when they feel seen and heard, just like we do in our relationships with other adults.

I really enjoyed the class. Connecting with other moms and knowing we all face similar challenges, sharing experiences and connecting, is so important. I found the class really good and engaging.
Marcela’s reply
Hi Pam, I’m so glad you felt connected and learned from the other moms’ experiences! Thank you for having the courage to share; it was so valuable.

Marcela is running a 6-session workshop with our school staff. After analyzing situations together, we realized that giving orders isn’t always necessary: by asking questions we can also get what we want, while teaching children to make their own decisions and encouraging them to be independent. We really liked the phrases for being firm and kind at the same time, and all the instructions were very clear.
Marcela’s reply
Hi, I’m so glad you decided to enjoy your children more. As you mentioned, by analyzing real situations together and sharing experiences, we discover other ways of relating to them, leading with firmness and kindness at the same time. Each session leaves you with something concrete to practice during the week. Thank you for being part of this lovely group!
Verónica and Fabián
The Positive Discipline workshop led by Marcela is a transformative experience: educational, interactive and full of hands-on activities and role-plays that make it engaging and relatable. More than theory, it gives you real tools you can use every day, helping you build a more positive, empathetic and less authoritarian approach to parenting. It also offers an enriching perspective that opens up new ways of communicating with our children. Highly recommended!
Marcela’s reply
Thank you, Verónica and Fabián. The activities are exactly what spark reflection and help the learning really sink in. Theory alone, without practical tools, makes change hard.
John Fredy C.
Highly recommended, excellent training!
Marcela’s reply
Thank you, John Fredy. I truly enjoyed having you in the workshop and hearing your contributions and reflections.

What stayed with me most was the activity about asking instead of giving orders. I repeat things to my daughters so often that I feel it goes in one ear and out the other, and I think this strategy will be really useful. I’m leaving excited to start applying what I learned. Thank you, Marcela!
Marcela’s reply
Thank you, Gloria! I’m so glad you enjoyed the activity.
María D.
Clear and very dynamic. Thank you for helping me be better!
Marcela’s reply
Thank you, María. I love knowing you feel it will help you be better. You’ll be the kind and firm leader your child needs!
Eliana P.
The gathering was amazing. Being able to interact with other moms and hear different points of view is wonderful. Thank you for creating this space.
Marcela’s reply
Eliana, I’m so glad it was so enriching to connect with the other moms. Hearing their experiences not only makes us feel supported, it also helps us see our own challenges more clearly and reach those “aha” moments that stay with us, beyond the theory.
Alba de S.
Great tools for raising children!
Marcela’s reply
Thank you, Alba. Without a doubt, every day I see how well they work with my daughters.

The workshop helps you put yourself in your child’s shoes and understand the different options we have as parents to help our children chart their own course.
Marcela’s reply
Agreed: pausing to put ourselves in our children’s shoes really helps us figure out what to do, or how we could have done it better.

Enjoy your child more with practical ideas to respond with intention instead of reacting on impulse, alongside other parents who are going through the same thing you are.
The Positive Discipline workshop was developed by Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott in the 1990s, based on the principles of the psychology of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs, who held that we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
Why I’m here
Eleven years ago, while I was pregnant with my first daughter, my mom gave me the book Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline, by Dr. Becky A. Bailey, and I realized that love alone wasn’t enough: I needed tools so I wouldn’t repeat the patterns I grew up with, and so I could become the mom I wanted to be.
I read more and more books as new challenges came up with my two daughters. In 2024 I took a Positive Discipline workshop, put it into practice with them and found my true passion: sharing what I learned so that, together, we can build a better world for our children. That’s why I became a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
Ever since I read Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline by Dr. Becky A. Bailey 11 years ago, while I was pregnant with my first daughter, I became aware of many beliefs I needed to change to become the mom I wanted to be, and I grew very interested in parenting strategies. Children may bring many blessings, but they certainly don’t come with an instruction manual, and love alone wasn’t enough; I needed tools to avoid repeating the patterns I grew up with. That book sparked my passion for learning about parenting, and I began putting ideas from Daniel J. Siegel and Dr. Becky A. Bailey into practice as I faced the challenges of raising my two daughters.
In 2024, looking for new tools, I took a Positive Discipline workshop and, after putting it into practice with my daughters, I realized that my true passion is teaching what I’ve learned so that, together, we can build a better world for our children. So I became certified as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
Twenty years from now, when our child knocks on the door, I want us both to see the adult we dreamed of, and to know that every challenge along the way was a chance to prepare them for life.

My favorite parenting books and what they taught me
I kept reading as new challenges came up, until the noise of so much advice on social media led me to look for the Positive Discipline course. I loved it so much that I decided to get certified.

Brainstorm Daniel J. SiegelWe need to understand the teenage brain to support them through this stage. My commitment
It’s my commitment as a mom to my daughters, and the one every mom and dad signs at the end of the six sessions.
I promise to lead with firmness and kindness, knowing that every moment is a chance to connect and to help my child build the skills they need for life.
I promise to learn emotional regulation alongside my child: to choose to stay calm, kind and present with their feelings, and to show them that it’s safe to feel.
I want to be the parent who stays calm and grounded in the face of my child’s big emotions — who chooses to tolerate the discomfort of those feelings and to accompany my child with a calm and steady presence, showing them that emotions are not dangerous or bad, and that it’s safe to feel them fully.
I want to be the parent who understands that emotional regulation is not something I must master before parenting, but something I can learn alongside my child — seeing every emotional storm as an invitation to grow together.
I want my child to become someone who faces life with courage and resilience, who embraces emotions as part of their preparation for the future, and learns to navigate them with confidence and trust in themselves.
And I know that starts with me. I choose to lead with firmness and kindness, knowing this is not about being perfect, but about showing up with presence, connection, and the willingness to grow.
